We love our children first, simply for being.
In time we love them for all that they have become and all that they hope to be.

The moments of beautiful belly giggles, irresistable puppy dog eyes and too cute pouts pass all too soon. Missing teeth, vegemite smiles and random tufts of baby hair are all a part of who a child is...

That's why it is important to me to capture more than just a beautiful face in my portraits, I aim to capture the essence of who your child is...

So that you will never forget who they were today.

Ella {a.k.a. Possum!} is one of those children who just light up a room - well, maybe even your world, and I am super lucky to be able to say she is yet another of my gorgeous nieces!

Just a little sneak peek from a previous shoot for today - Loads more of my beautiful little Possum to come tomorrow!

My son. My beautiful, incredible, just-turned-7 son!
This boy is everything to me... Everything and more and he has been from the very first moment I met him!
It's hard to believe that 7 long years have passed, it almost feels like yesterday that he first wrapped those tiny fingers around my own and that I was both petrified and delighted to suddenly have this incredible new life in my arms.
Of course over time he has grown into a strong and intelligent boy with a heart of gold and the journey has not just been his own, he has taught me so much along the way!
It just doesn't seem that long ago that he wished upon a star to become Batman when he grew up and now when he grows up he wants to be a paleontologist!!
While I love every bit of who he is today, there are so many parts of him from yesterday that I miss.
Where do those years go?

Plenty more of Alexander to come soon!

^ Love this!

^Love, Love, Love This!

Meet one of my younger sisters, Fiona - Isn't she just gorgeous?!

I am a total fan of all things chic and vintage and I'd ordered these gorgeous vintage suitcases on ebay and had them shipped directly to where we would be staying on our recent visit with the family, for this shoot!
I'd planned the vintage railway shoot for my sister long before she ever knew anything of it, and luckily, she was willing and my vision came to life!
Fee isn't an overly girly girl, but she was a total champ for her big sis, and hopefully now very happy with the rewards reaped by her sacrifice and work ~ Beautiful photos!

This has to be one of my favourites from the shoot - It just has a little hint of sass and cheek - A side I don't get to see of my little sister very often - LOVE it!

In and around an abandoned railway station on the outskirts of town, Fiona withstood rain, freezing cold wind, and passers by honking and tooting at what was possibly the most excitement the little town had seen in some time, with Fee even stripping off the jeans {in about 4 degree celcius temperature... Brrrr!} just for a few lovely shots... But it was totally worthwhile!
{Yes I know... Easy for warmly dressed, all rugged up me to say!}

What a beautiful, classic face!
These little railway stations are spotted all along the track at the many tiny villages around the area, all of which have sat, unused for years... The tracks only home to a tourist train about twice a year, which of course meant we had free reign!

If you have come today to look at my photos, I hope that I do not disappoint you, as today there will be no photos.
Today I just have a little something to say.

Tomorrow will bring more photos, I promise!
Once in a while it occurs to me that it has been sometime since I stopped and counted my blessings, of which there are so many! This year has been one of tremendous change for me both personally and professionally and I am just so thankful that my life is so truly wonderful!

I am blessed to have a healthy, beautiful, and wonderfully brilliant son...

...to be sharing my life with my best friend and soul mate

...to have beautiful family and friends who support, love and encourage me

...for being able to see beauty in the smallest, most unlikely of places

...for having my passion for life reignited by the gift of photography

...For finally having the faith in myself and my ability, to achieve whatever I set my mind to
...for laughter

...for health

...for life
...............................

I give thanks to my #1 fans (a.k.a My gorgeous friends and family) who have been the driving force behind my decision to push on and believe in myself and my photography...
You have me reaching for the stars!
I give Thanks to my big brother... Who handed me a camera... To You, I owe so much!!
Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou!

I very well might be totally biased, as Miss Maddison is the eldest of my ever-growing bunch of beautiful nieces, but this shoot was a lot of fun and a wonderful success, despite Maddi's hair and dress being completely covered in bindies within minutes of reaching our location {Sorry again Princess}!

I'd had my heart set on having Maddison's shoot at this location from the moment I saw it whilst driving by.

The beautiful rendered house had obviously been long since forgotten, but still oozed the charm of a once much loved home. A glimpse through an open window revealed smooth grey polished concrete floors, walls built from old red, rounded bricks and arched doorways.

The front porch rails appeared at first to be made of random branches giving a beautiful rustic feel, but on closer inspection it became evident that someone had taken the time to sculpt them from concrete - a theme which carried on through what was once a much loved garden...

Large baskets made of more concrete filled with soil, sat upon the footpath, perhaps once the home of beautiful spring bulbs.

And somehow amidst all the overgrowth and debris there still grew a garden bed filled to the brim with magnificent yellow Jonquils - What a perfectly fitting metaphor for this very shoot!

2009 was destined to bring change to Maddison's young life - An Interstate move that would separate her from her extended family with whom she had spent most of her days and the cousins with whom she shared a bond much like that of siblings.

The details of those changes would not be evident to me until our recent visit which brought me new insight into who Maddison has become in our absence... No longer just a little girl, our Maddi has grown into a lovely young lady.

She has a certain air of grown up elegance and grace about her, with still just a hint of that childish innocence and cheek that we love so much.

I am just so very proud of her.

We Love You Princess!
